Dekalin Dekasyl MS-2 6252012 Multifunctional adhesive and sealant, black, 290 ml
Shipped in 1-3 days
Dekasyl MS-2 from Dekalin (MPN 6252012) is a multifunctional adhesive and sealant. It is a good compromise between adhesive and sealant for demanding jobs. The elastic adhesive and sealant is suitable for creating elastic bonds between components that also require high adhesive strength. No prior surface treatment is required for application on glass, side skirts, and wheel covers. Once the skin has formed, the product can be painted over.
Areas of application
- Elastic joints and seals in caravan and motorhome construction
- Bonding roofs on buses, caravans, and motorhomes
- Bonding edge profiles of trailers with aluminum or polyester
- Bonding polyester parts with metal frames
- Bonding floor systems
- Sealing welded seams
Properties
- Free of solvents, isocyanates, and PVC
- Very good UV and aging resistance
- Generally good adhesion without primer on various substrates, e.g., Dekasyl MS-2 can be used as a sealant for PVC floor coverings
- Permanently elastic in the temperature range from -40°C to +120°C
- Neutral, odorless, and fast curing
- Can be painted over (wet on wet) after skin formation; this generally does not affect curing
- Compatible with most industrial coating or painting systems, both alkyd resin and emulsion paints
Adhesion
Dekasyl MS-2 generally adheres well without primer to clean, dry, dust- and grease-free substrates made of aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, zinc, copper, brass, powder-coated metal, most painted metal surfaces, glass, PVC, polyester (GRP), painted and varnished wood, etc. No adhesion without pre-treatment on polyethylene, polypropylene, and Teflon®. If high adhesion is required in cases of high thermal or physical stress, especially in humid environments, the use of an adhesion promoter is recommended. For properties on substrates not mentioned and further information, please contact Dekalin.
Processing
Dekasyl MS-2 can be easily applied with a hand or air-powered gun at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. For sealing, Dekasyl MS-2 should be further processed or smoothed within 10 minutes (at 20°C/50% relative humidity) using a spatula or putty knife that has been dipped in a mild soap solution. Avoid soap from getting into the joint. Humidity) with a spatula or putty knife previously dipped in a mild soap solution. Avoid soap solution penetrating between the joint surfaces and the sealant, as this will result in a loss of adhesive strength. For bonding, the substrates must be joined within 15 minutes (at 20°C/50% relative humidity) after applying Dekasyl MS-2. The higher the temperature, the shorter the processing time! In general, a bonding layer of 2 mm is recommended if similar materials (with similar strength) are to be bonded. The greater the difference in thermal expansion, the thicker the bonding layer should be. Further information on this can be obtained from Dekalin. At a temperature of 20°C and a relative humidity of 50%, Dekasyl MS-2 can be overcoated with most industrial paints after just 10 minutes. The best possible adhesion of paint layers is achieved when the paint is applied 4 hours after applying Dekasyl MS-2. Clean the tools or remove uncured residues of Dekasyl MS-2 with a clean, colorless cloth soaked in acetone or MEK (it is recommended to wipe off any excess Dekasyl MS-2 with a clean, colorless cloth soaked in acetone or MEK)residues of Dekasyl MS-2 with a clean, colorless cloth soaked in acetone or MEK (it is recommended to check beforehand whether the surface is affected by these cleaners).
