System protection as top priority

The system has a special connection for your alternator. This ensures that the current flows safely from the alternator to the battery, regardless of their size. The current limiter ensures that your alternator is not overloaded. The system also monitors each battery cell. If the voltage is too low or too high, or if the temperature becomes too high, it automatically shuts down all power sources. This ensures maximum safety and reliability.

Important functions

Alternator and battery protection: The alternator/starter batt+ connection electronically regulates the input current so that it remains at around 90% of the fuse value. When using a 100 A fuse, the current is limited to approximately 90 A to protect the lithium battery from excessive charging current and the alternator from overload. This protective measure is particularly valuable as many 12 V alternators can overheat within 5 minutes when operating continuously at maximum power. This ensures safe and efficient operation of your systems.
Connection for remote on/off switching: Use this connection to pause charging via the alternator if necessary, while the BMS functions remain active. It can also be used as an on/off switch to easily and completely shut down the entire system.
Load and charge disconnect output: The Smart BMS CL 12-100 provides precise monitoring and reliable protection for each battery cell. If the battery voltages are not within the optimal range or the temperature becomes too high, it automatically switches off the alternator, the charging sources, or the DC loads. This ensures maximum safety and optimal performance of your battery.
Pre-alarm output: This can be used to activate a relay, LED, or buzzer to emit a warning signal before the BMS disconnects the batteries from the system. This feature ensures that you are notified early and can react in time.
