Victron Smart Battery Sense Long Range Voltage and Temperature Sensor

The Smart Battery Sense Long Range from Victron Energy (MPN SBS050150200) is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for many Victron chargers and solar chargers or device combinations. The Battery Sense Long Range is identical in design to the standard version. Only the transmission power has been increased, allowing a distance of up to 10 m between the battery and the charger instead of 3 m. A voltage and temperature sensor ensures that the batteries are charged more efficiently, improves charging efficiency, and extends the life expectancy of your batteries, as the charging voltage is continuously adjusted to the battery temperature.

Improves battery charging

By measuring the voltage directly at the terminals of the battery bank, errors due to voltage loss as a result of cable resistance are avoided. This ensures the correct charging voltage.

For lead-acid batteries, battery temperature data is used to adjust charging voltages: cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, while hot batteries require a lower charging voltage. For lithium batteries, the temperature data is used to interrupt charging when the batteries are too cold: charging lithium batteries at temperatures around freezing or below permanently damages the cells.

The connection between the Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar chargers is wireless. It uses VE.Smart Network, a wireless technology based on Bluetooth Smart. The transmitted data can be used simultaneously by one, two, or more solar chargers connected to the same 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V battery bank. The Smart Network is set up using the VictronConnect app

installation: neat, simple, smart

Installation is simple, quick, and neat. Simply attach the device's two cable lugs to the battery terminals and mount the Smart Battery Sense device directly on the battery using its self-adhesive strip.
