The Victron 100 A:50 mA current transformer (MPN CTR120000500) is the latest addition to the MultiPlus-II / MultiGrid-II series and, unlike its predecessor, has a wire end instead of a connection socket. The transformer enables the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to be implemented and optimizes self-consumption with external current measurement.

PowerControl – optimization of power supply with limited AC power
The MultiPlus-II / MultiGrid-II can deliver a very high charging current. This places a heavy load on the AC supply or generator. For this reason, a maximum current can be set. The MultiPlus-II then takes into account the existing consumption and only uses the remaining free current to charge the battery.
PowerAssist – Extended usage options for generator or shore power: the "support" function
This function adds a new dimension to the PowerControl principle, as the MultiPlus-II can support an alternative source that is too weak. Load peaks often only occur for a limited period of time. In such cases, the MultiPlus-II ensures that insufficient AC mains power or generator power is immediately compensated for by energy from the battery. If the load is reduced, i.e., if consumers are switched off, the energy that is then available again can be used to charge the batteries.
