Victron BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor Computer Monitoring

The BMV 712 Smart from Victron Energy (MPN BAM030712000R) is the latest battery computer in the BMV family. It provides highly accurate data on parameters such as battery voltage, current, power, ampere hours consumed, state of charge, and remaining runtime at the current discharge rate. The measurement resolution is very accurate and precise compared to similar products. In addition, it is equipped with an integrated Bluetooth module that allows you to access many functions and status reports of the battery computer via a free app.

easy installation – All electrical connections are made to the current shunt using the PCB connector. The shunt is connected to the monitor via a standard RJ12 telephone cable. Included in delivery: RJ 12 cable (10 m) and battery cable with fuse (2 m); No additional components are required. A separate front panel for a square or round display, a safety ring for rear mounting, and screws for front mounting are also included.

Low power consumption

The BMV's power consumption is only 0.7 Ah per month (1 mA) at 12 V and 0.6 Ah per month (0.8 mA) at 24 V. Lithium-ion batteries in particular have virtually no capacity left when they are discharged to the point of shutdown due to low voltage.

After shutdown due to low voltage, the capacity reserve of a lithium-ion battery is approximately 1 Ah per 1000 Ah of battery capacity. The battery will be damaged if the remaining reserve capacity is removed from the battery. A residual current of 10 mA, for example, can damage a 200 Ah battery if the system is left in a discharged state for more than 8 days.

intelligent: monitoring of the center point voltage

A damaged cell or battery can destroy an entire large, expensive battery bank. When batteries are connected in series, measuring the midpoint voltage can generate a timely warning message. Please also refer to the BMV manual, section 5.2 for further information.

Victron recommends the Battery Balancer (BMS012201000) to maximize the life of lead-acid batteries connected in series.
