Victron Battery Monitor BMV-702 Black

The Victron BMV 702 Black (MPN BAM010702200) is a powerful battery monitor with extensive monitoring and configuration options. all BMV 70x devices can be controlled and monitored (remotely) using the VE.Direct communication port, for example with the Color Control GX Panel.

Compared to the BMV 700, the Black 702 can monitor two battery banks simultaneously. It also monitors medium voltage, as is common in industrial applications, to protect large battery banks. It is the only battery monitor in this price range that offers this feature.

A damaged cell or battery can destroy an entire large, expensive battery bank. When batteries are connected in series, measuring the midpoint voltage can generate a timely warning message. You can find out more about medium voltage in the description below.

Battery "fuel gauge," remaining life indicator, and much more

The remaining battery capacity depends on the ampere hours consumed, the discharge current, the temperature, and the age of the battery. Complex software algorithms are required to take all these variables into account.

In addition to basic display options such as voltage, current, and ampere-hours consumed, the BMV-700 series also displays the state of charge, remaining runtime, and power consumption in watts.

The BMV-702 has an additional input that can be programmed to measure voltage (of a second battery), temperature, or midpoint voltage (see below).

With the Bluetooth Smart Dongle, you can monitor your batteries via an Apple or Android smartphone, tablet, Macbook, or other devices – simply via a Bluetooth connection! The dongle is not included in the scope of delivery.

Monitoring of center voltage (BMV-702 only)

This function, which is often used in industry to monitor large and costly battery banks, is now available for the first time at a lower price, allowing any battery bank to be monitored.

A battery bank consists of a string of cells connected in series. The midpoint voltage is the voltage at the halfway point of the string. Ideally, the midpoint voltage is exactly half of the total voltage. In practice, however, deviations occur. These depend on numerous factors, such as different states of charge in new batteries or cells, different temperatures, internal leakage currents, capacities, and many more.

Large or increasing deviations in the midpoint voltage indicate improper battery maintenance or a faulty battery or cell. Corrective measures taken as a result of a midpoint voltage alarm can prevent serious damage to an expensive battery. Please also refer to the manual for further information.
