How does a balcony power plant work?

The Offgridtec balcony power plant is a compact solar system consisting of two solar modules and a matching Hoymiles micro inverter to feed the generated electricity into the in-house power grid. The inverter is connected directly to the solar connectors on the module. The connection cable is connected via the inverter's Betteri connection and routed directly to the power outlet. No special settings are required to use the solar power generated in the home's power grid. If power is available from other sources in the home, this is used preferentially and supplemented by grid power if necessary.

Balcony power plants in Germany

There is currently no law or regulation in Germany governing the generation of solar power for purely personal use. The maximum limit of 600W AC PV power is a reserve value which, according to the current VDE standard, can be fed into an existing power outlet circuit in a house without overloading it. There are no specifications for independent circuits without additional load. All electrical installations should be carried out in accordance with VDE standards. However, the operation of a balcony power plant via a standard Schuko socket is not prohibited. Registration with the Federal Network Agency is mandatory. However, there are no known cases of fines for failure to register balcony power plants, nor are there any insurmountable problems with grid operators. Compliance with and implementation of standards and obligations is the responsibility of the plant operator.
