The balcony power plants from Offgridtec offer a practical solution to generate a portion of the electricity needed for households, significantly reducing overall electricity costs. The system includes two solar modules, a suitable micro-inverter with a DTU control unit, and an AC connection cable that connects the inverter to a power outlet. The modules are designed to be installed directly next to each other.

How does a balcony power plant work?

The Offgridtec balcony power plant is a space-saving solar system consisting of a solar module and a compatible Hoymiles micro-inverter to feed the generated electricity into the household electrical network. The inverter is ideally attached directly to the substructure of the solar module and connected to the module using a solar connector. The AC cable is connected via the battery terminal of the inverter and routed directly to the appropriate outlet. You can choose between a conventional Schuko outlet and a Wieland feed-in socket, which is included in the delivery. No special settings are required to use the generated solar power in the home's electrical network. If there is power from other sources in the house, this is preferentially used and supplemented with grid power if needed.

The Trina Solar Vertex S+ (MPN: TSM-NEG9R.28) is an efficient solar module with a power output of 445W, using monocrystalline TOPCon cells and dual glass technology. Thanks to the multi-busbar technology, it offers improved absorption, low series resistance, enhanced current collection, and reliability. Hoymiles HMS-1600-4T Micro-Inverter

The HMS-1600-4T (MPN: HMS-1600-4T) from Hoymiles is the perfect micro-inverter for your balcony power plant. Balcony Power Plants in Germany

Currently, there is no law or regulation in Germany that governs the generation of solar power for pure self-consumption. The limit of a maximum of 600W AC PV output is a reserve value that can be fed into an existing socket circuit of a house without overloading it, according to the current VDE standards. For independent circuits without additional loads, nothing is specified. Every electrical installation should comply with VDE standards. However, the operation of a balcony power plant via the usual Schuko socket is fundamentally not prohibited. Registration with the Federal Network Agency is mandatory. However, there have been no known cases of fines for not registering balcony power plants, nor are there insurmountable problems with grid operators. Compliance with norms and obligations falls to the plant operator. There is already much technical and legal information available on reputable websites regarding this topic.
