Growatt ARK 2.5H-A1 High-Voltage Battery

The Growatt ARK 2.5H-A1 high-voltage battery (MPN ARK-2.5H-A1) is a LiFePO4 storage unit with high cycle stability and a long service life. The modular, stackable design allows for flexible application in various scenarios and is easy to install. The battery delivers outstanding performance under high loads and, with its IP65 protection, is also suitable for outdoor installation. Soft start is used to prevent overvoltage in the system.

About the ARK 2.5H-A1 battery:

  • Modular, stackable battery design
  • Cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate (LFP)
  • High cycle stability and long service life
  • Wall or floor installation possible
  • Soft start to protect the system from overvoltage
  • Automatic wake-up in case of undervoltage
  • IP65 protection rating for outdoor installation
  • Remote diagnostics and firmware updates
  • Battery base and battery connection kit included in the retrofit kit

The ARK Battery System

Thanks to its modular design, the ARK system is flexible and can be expanded as needed. A battery tower can be constructed with a minimum of 2 and up to 10 storage modules; multiple towers can also be installed within a single system. For operation, each tower requires a BMS control unit as well as a connection cable set to the corresponding inverter. For ground installation, an additional battery base is required per tower. The ARK high-voltage storage units are compatible with the MIN and MOD-XH, as well as the three-phase SPH and SPA inverters. Depending on the inverter series, a different control unit, a different connection cable set, and a different starting number of batteries are required. The ARK-XH system starts with 2 batteries, while the ARK-HV system starts with 3.

Flexible Expansion: The ARK battery system from Growatt offers high flexibility thanks to its expandable configuration options, ranging from 5.12 kWh to 25.6 kWh. Installation and expansion of the system are simple and straightforward thanks to the modular design and the use of cables. Another innovation of the ARK system is that, unlike other battery systems, no battery cabinet is required. Only a battery base is needed to ensure stability.
Soft start for system protection: The soft start mechanism is a protective feature used in the Growatt battery to safeguard the system against overvoltage. When starting or switching on the battery, the power supply is gradually increased to protect the system from damage that could be caused by a sudden voltage spike. This ensures smooth and safe operation of the battery system.
High cycle life: Thanks to their extremely high cycle life and the use of LiFePo4 cells, Growatt ARK battery modules are an ideal storage solution for photovoltaic systems. Whether it’s a grid-connected or off-grid system, Growatt storage offers numerous advantages over conventional lead-acid batteries and other lithium technologies.

Hybrid Inverter

Unlike conventional inverters, hybrid inverters offer the option of not only feeding the generated solar power into the grid but also storing it in batteries. This allows the stored solar power to be used even when the sun isn’t shining. Another function of hybrid inverters is to optimize a household’s electricity consumption by prioritizing the direct use of generated solar power within the household before feeding it into the grid. This leads to reduced energy costs and less reliance on expensive grid electricity.

Operating Modes – Configurable according to system requirements

Online Mode: Different operating modes can be set for optimal system integration of the SPH inverter. When configured directly on the device, a priority mode can only be set for a single time period. When using the online platform, up to three time periods can be set for the priority mode (a paid accessory is required to use this feature).

  • Load first:In the standard “Load first” mode, the connected loads (consumers) are supplied with energy first. As soon as the PV energy is sufficient for the load, the excess energy is fed into the battery. If the battery is fully charged or none is connected, the remaining energy is fed into the grid.
  • Battery first:In this mode, the inverter first fully charges the battery using the maximum possible solar power. If the PV power is insufficient, the grid charging function can also be activated.
  • Grid first:In this mode, the generated PV energy is fed into the grid first. Here, the mode’s on and off times can be set, as well as the power rate.

Backup mode: If there is no longer any grid voltage at the device, e.g., due to a brief power outage or blackout, the Growatt SPH automatically switches to backup mode. This ensures power supply to the AC output via the EPS-LOAD connection. The required energy is supplied solely by the solar system and the battery. If the PV system also fails, the battery maintains the AC supply until it is discharged. If necessary, the automatic switch to this mode can also be deactivated.

Maximum Power Point Tracking

By utilizing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology, a solar system can achieve optimal output. The MIC inverter is equipped with an MPPT that adjusts the optimal ratio of voltage and current throughout the day based on solar irradiance and the temperature of the solar modules. With its wide MPPT voltage range, many solar modules can be connected, enabling efficient energy generation. This advantage is particularly evident when the sky is partly cloudy and light intensity changes continuously.

Intelligent Load Management

The inverter’s integrated smart load control enables precise and efficient management of energy consumption. By using a dry contact, electrical loads can be controlled intelligently and prioritized. This feature allows for automatic detection of energy demand and optimal utilization of available energy. Smart load management ensures optimal energy distribution, thereby contributing to efficient use. With intelligent load control via the dry contact, the inverter is able to optimize the energy flow and ensure efficient operation of your solar system.

Growatt Monitoring Platform

By using the optional Shine series accessories, you can access the Growatt Monitoring Platform. This platform is available both as a smartphone app for iOS and Android and as a web version. The Shine accessories must be purchased separately, but use of the platform is free of charge. Through Shine, you can configure and monitor all your Growatt products, and it also allows you to view self-consumption and track trends.
